Weekend Style | Faux Fur Coat

Ann Taylor Fur Vest_2

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. I'm sharing an outfit I wore last week during NYFW.  I was inspired by all the faux fur outfits so I traded out my black leather moto jacket for a more statement piece with this coat and printed top.

Last week, I wore a similar top with off-white wide leg trouser.  Ann Taylor released their spring line and it's full of versatile pieces like the ones I'm wearing today.

What to Wear to Work | Spring Ready!

Ann Taylor_Polka Dot_WorkWear_1

With spring right around the corner, I'm quickly transitioning from black winter pieces to more colorful and vibrant colors. This polka dot blouse from Ann Taylor is lightweight and can be worn to work and after hours. I love the necktie that buttons on the back of the shirt (to stay in place), it gives the blouse a little more personality.

If you're looking to add new workwear pieces to your wardrobe, head over to Ann Taylor, they're having a sidewise sale with 40% off your entire purchase! I picked up another white button down shirt and this black and white sheath dress

Here are a few of my favorite pieces.

Beauty Review | TextureTame

Texture Tame_6

I've teamed up with DermStore, once again, to share my experience with an at-home frizz eliminating system called TextureTame. Anyone who knows me, probably knows that I'm always trying to get my hair straight and soft. Someone with naturally curly hair, I've done everything from straightening my hair with an ironed to getting a chemical relaxer put in my hair (and then it fell out, it was a tragic experience in college).  I've done it all! After years of heat and color damage, my hair has lost a lot of shine and silkiness.

When the DermStore team reached out to me to try this brand-new product, I immediately said yes! I'm always interested in trying new products on my hair. After a few weeks of using the treatment I immediately noticed the difference in the amount of frizz and volume in my hair. Here's a look at my hair before the treatment.

Click here to learn a little more on TextureTame, you can also get access to 30% off the frizz-eliminating system.

Step 3: finish
This step can be used daily to wet or dry hair. This will help enhance smooth and shiny strands. It also helps against additional damage, especially for someone like myself who's always using heating tools.

how to: apply teaspoon amount of FINISH to towel-dried hair. Comb through evenly. Blow dry and style as desired. Can also be applied to dry hair for added shine and silkiness.

Thank you DermStore and TextureTame for partnering on this collaboration!

Casual Look | Raw Hem Denim

JEANS_2

This year during NYFW, one of the most popular trends worn by popular fashion blogger; Aimee from Song of Style, Danielle from WhoWoreWhat and Crhiselle from The Chriselle Factor was raw and frayed denim. Over the last few months I've seen this trend with black denim, it wasn't till last month I saw denim culottes with raw and frayed hems. At first I wasn't the biggest fan, but like most trends, it's an acquired taste.

Any trend worn by celebrities and famous fashion bloggers, but I wanted to figure out how to wear this is my day-to-day life. As a personal fan of culottes pants, incorporating the raw hem trend into my wardrobe wasn't too difficult, it was figuring out where I could buy them in petite sizing. Thankfully Banana Republic had a two styles (here & here) available.

For most offices this might not be an appropriate style, but for those of us who work in a less conservative workplaces, I think this can be worn on a casual Friday. As for the weekend or evenings, you can give your skinny jeans a day off and wear these jeans with heels, sneakers or your favorite booties

EcoTools | Valentine's Day Makeup Tutorial

BEAUTY_2

Wishing everyone a happy Valentine's Day! This is my last EcoTools post. The last ten months I've been working with EcoTools to create hair tutorials, summer makeup tutorials and makeup checklists with their eco-friently and animal-friently beauty products.

As part of my last post with EcoTools, I'm sharing a makeup look that I wore on date with Matt. I'm using the EcoTools Day to Night brush set. The name of this set couldn't be more accurate. It has all the essentials for freshening up your makeup after a long day at work.

For someone with my schedule, redoing my makeup after work for either a date, blog event or birthday party isn't practical. I have anywhere from 30-45 minutes to come home, feed the animals, change my clothes and freshen up my makeup. With the Day to Night set, I have all the essentials to get ready quickly and still look refreshed and polished.

BEAUTY_8

The brush set includes; eyeshadow brush, angled face brush, petite highlighting fan brush, pointed concealer brush, detailed lip liner brush.

With my eyeshadow brush, I apply Urban Decay Naked3 eyeshadow palette. This is my favorite eyeshadow set and use it most days for my daily office looks.

BEAUTY_7

Using the angled face brush I apply contouring powder to my cheekbones, sides of my nose and hairline. When it comes to contouring, I'm a minimalist. I try my best to contour my nose, but other than that I blend out as much as possible.

BEAUTY_6

Using the precision blush brush (not included in the set), I apply blush to the apples of my cheeks. Over the holidays I picked up this NARS contour and blush palette. The mornings are always hectic, so palettes like the NARS contour and blush palette consolidate everything into one location making it easier and faster for me to get ready.

BEAUTY_5

Then using the highlighting fan brush I apply highlighter to the bridge of my nose and above my cheeks. The highlighter in the NARS set is more matte, it's not shiny.

**For the corporate girls out there who want a highlighter but not all the shimmer, try a matte finish. It brightens up your face without all the glam.

BEAUTY_4

To define my eyes, I use the lip liner brush as an under eyeshadow brush. Using a dark ercolor I blend the shadow under my eyes and into my upper eyeliner.

I complete the lip with a soft pink lipstick and lots of mascara!

BEAUTY_3

The look is now complete! This dress is by Cynthia Steffe, worn here a few years ago.

Oh yes, here are a few of my older Valentine's Day outfits here, here and here
In the spirt of red and pink, I also dug up these outfits posts. This pink and red dress is still my favorite.

Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. Nothing is more refreshing than a few days off work to spend with your family and friends!

Casual Friday Workwear | Valentine's Day Inspired

VDAY_3

Ever wonder how to master the casual Friday look? The best piece of advice I can give anyone, is to switch out one piece from your daily workwear outfits for a casual piece from your closet. For example, in today's look I replaced my straight leg trousers for a dark denim. The outfit is still structured and appropriate for most workplaces. For more corporate offices, I'd recommend keeping your trousers and adding a bold lip color.

Ditch your oversized blazer for a more fitted blazer,  like this blush pink one from BCBGeneration. The high-low tuxedo blazer is professional, but you still looks stylish and modern. I paired the blazer with my favorite J.Crew silk cami and added nude scalloped heels for an ultra feminine look. The Chloe shoes are my new "crush" in my closet. Typically I wear my nude DVF Bethany stiletto to work. I've enjoyed switching out my skinny stilettos for a chunkier heel, making my workday a little more comfortable. These AG denim jeans I own in a few sizes, I bought this pair a size larger so I could wear them to work. When I'm at work, I don't like wearing anything snug or tight so I wanted to give myself some wiggle room. One thing I've learned is that the size of your clothes doesn't matter, it matters how they fit your body and how you feel when you're wearing the clothing.

Hope you enjoy the look and have a wonderful three day weekend!

Even Michelle Pfeiffer loves my new Chloe heels!

Big thanks to Ode a la Rose located in NYC for the beautiful red roses. The roses arrived in a large box with a small bowl filled with water to keep the flowers fresh. We often buy roses and flowers and I was impressed by the quality of the roses sent to me. To keep my roses fresh, I keep them in my fridge overnight and trim the stems every few days. The pink roses were from my husband. He likes to surprise me with flowers on Fridays or when I get back into town.
